General Regulations of the 'Elfstedentocht'

For the race, race regulations apply, and for the tour, tour regulations.
In these regulations the following is to be found:

"A participant should skate as far right as possible, unless explicitly otherwise is indicated."
"The use of any vehicle is strictly forbidden."
"The participant should complete the track on skate, except where he is forced to walk." (klunen).

For the competition applies:

"It is forbidden to a participant to hold on to, or be helped by spectators or other participants."
"Every paricipant must hand his stamp card personally at the control posts."
"The control posts are, if possible, located on the ice."

The control posts can be recognised by Frisian Banners and/or blue lanterns.
Holes in the ice, constructions and other dangerous locations will be made clear if possible. When it is dark, by placing orange lanterns, among others.

If the tour should be ended prematurely, this will be made public by a circular, signed by the chairman.
Those, who fail to accomplish the race, due to changing of the weather, or any other reason, do not receive their 'Elfstedentocht' cross.
Those, who try to complete the race or tour irregularly, or helps someone else to do so, will be disqualified.
